Good skin products will enhance your skin treatments
You may well be having regular anti-aging treatments such as microdermabrasions and chemical peels but what is on your bathroom shelf? The right skin care products really do make a difference. The reality is that the active ingredients that work are simply not found in the skincare products that you can buy on the High Street.
After the age of 40 we should all be using a wrinkle eraser that includes retinol, a form of vitamin A, to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, fade brown spots and smooth skin tone. Retinol or tretinoin topical creams exfoliate the skin and increase the production of collagen. Skin clinics stock a grade that is referred to cosmeceutical.
I have been using the Agera range from Stradbrook . I particularly love the recovery complex and use it when I have had a peel or microdermabrasion. It’s wonderful for reducing facial redness and soothing the skin. It provides a calming effect to the skin and encourages the production of collagen and elastin.
What is a cosmeceutical?
If you want to go beyond pampering and really see a difference in the appearance of your skin then cosmeceuticals are the way forward. Cosmeceuticals are skin treatments that give visible results and provide added benefits that go far beyond other types of skincare products. The word "cosmeteutical" is a combination of the words "cosmetics" and "pharmaceuticals”. These are non –prescription products for cosmetic use containing high grade ingredients that can produce dramatic results. These professional grade products have been scientifically researched and tested to ensure that they actually have an effect on the skin. The address skin concerns at a deeper level and protecting your skin from external forces, such as the sun and pollution, which cause premature ageing.
High street cosmetics selling anti-aging products containing antioxidants, peptides and retinols don’t contain high enough percentages of these active ingredients to make any real difference to the skin. Also they are often stuffed full of chemicals, which irritate the skin.
I shudder to think how much money I have wasted over the years on expensive lotions and potions .To dip your toe in the water, Agera produces a great travel pack - a great way of trying out multiple products.
