Warts and verrucae
Warts or verrucae are a common skin ailment caused by infection with the human papilloma virus. Various treatments are offered at Stradbrook by our Dermatologist, including liquid nitrogen treatment, or "dry ice", to freeze the wart.
Moles
There are many types of acne and so a consultation with our Dermatologist ensures the appropriate treatment is prescribed and tailored specifically to your type of acne. Our treatments may include specialized face washes and creams, systemic treatment (tablets) including antibiotics, medication which can only be prescribed by a Dermatologist, as well as a course of combined skin peels and medical microdermabrasion.
Rosacea – a general inflammation of the cheeks and face – can make you feel very self-conscious about your looks. Facial redness/flushing or blushing can be described as an involuntary reddening of the face, often due to embarrassment or stress but also just a reaction of the skin for no apparent reason.
Our dermatologist is specially trained to diagnose any skin rash that may be concerning you. Psoriasis and eczema can be distressing conditions. As well as being very uncomfortable, they can also make you very self-conscious about your looks.
After an initial examination, our dermatologist will discuss with you the best treatment for your condition. Often this will be a specific topical cream, many of which are prescription creams. In severe cases prescription oral medicine is used.
Facial thread veins – tiny networks of veins that show through the skin on your face – and rosacea – a general inflammation of the cheeks and face – can make you feel very self-conscious about your looks. We use IPL photo-facials to treat these conditions. Our special Palomar laser emits pulses of light into the skin, which are then absorbed by the blood in the visible veins, and converted to heat. The heat shrinks the vessels so they are no longer visible, giving you a natural, even skin tone.
A scar is a patch or line of tissue that remains after a wound has healed. When a wound occurs and there is a break in some of the tissue in the body, the body heals it by producing more of a protein called collagen.
Scars gradually become smoother and softer and will fade but it is unlikely they will ever disappear and depending on the severity and location of them can cause distress if unsightly or very visible.
It is estimated that close to 90% of women have stretch marks, which occur normally as a result of puberty, pregnancy, hormonal changes and weight gain. This fact does little to alleviate the embarrassment that most women feel at the appearance of these unsightly striations on their skin.
This state-of-the-art treatment uses laser technology to give you a fresher, more youthful skin tone and texture. Fractional laser resurfacing is the latest method for rejuvenating aged skin. Our Lux 1540 is great for lines, wrinkles, scarring and sun damage. Advantages over other similar systems include more comfortable treatment; fast healing time with no lasting redness; and effective, long-term results.
